Skinner and Caper
knives come in an almost endless variety. They're great for game skinning
and

"Sow Belly-Trailing Point"

This knife is a combination Trailing
Point knife with a deeper "Sow" belly, a really nice blend of both styles.
The knife above has a 608 layer high carbon damascus 5 5/8" long with an
overall length of 10 1/2".
The oval guard is "wagon wheel" wrought iron with file worked accents. The
handle is top grade
Maple Burl wood with a throat of Buffalo horn (both are stabilized),
black/copper spacers
and a stainless steel pin. The tooled leather blade sheath has Frog skin
inlays.

Seguine-Style Skinner

This skinner blade is based on a pattern I came across by
a maker
that has passed on by the name of
M.W. Seguine (Juneau, Alaska). I loved
this particular heavy skinner pattern so much
I had to try forging
something similar in my own style. This skinner has a 4 1/2" blade of 350
layer "double-cut" damascus steel
with file-work and top bevel (roughly 10 1/4" overall length). The handle is
Desert Ironwood Burl with a
throat of Malachite stone, nickle-silver and black spacers, mosaic pins and
a guard and pommel of
nickle-silver. The handle The knife comes with a tooled leather blade
sheath.

"Antiqued" Small Caper in Cocobola

This little
caper blade is forged from 5160 high carbon steel and done with an
antique finish. The blade
is flat ground with a convex edge and a slight top bevel on the spine. The
contoured, stippled guard
is made of "red brass" alloy. The handle is Cocobola wood with a throat of
stabilized Honey
Buffalo horn and a black spacer. The knife is finished up with a stainless
steel pin. The
leather pouch sheath is border tooled with a matching belt loop. The knife
is 7 1/8
overall with a 2 5/8" cutting edge.

"BLS"- The Turquoise Eagle
|

This style skinner is for those who like a wider blades
for skinning and general camp chores. The BL skinner
has a 5" hand-rubbed, distal tapered
blade of 5160 spring steel, with a
total length of 9 1/8". The handle
is fronted with stabilized Giraffe bone,
backed with
Desert Ironwood and has a turquoise spacer between.
The four pins, handle
bolts and
lanyard are stainless steel. The taped tang also has black liners. This
knife
comes with
a tooled leather blade sheath with a "bald eagle" carving.

"Semi-Skinner" in
Cherry Burl

This semi-skinner piece has a 5 1/2"
blade of clay-quenched 1084 high carbon steel blade with a
hand-rubbed finish. The contoured guard is nickle-silver with a matching
spacer and a fullered
maroon spacer in between. The palm swell handle is stabilized Cherry Burl
wood with a
stainless steel pin. The overall length of this knife is 10 1/4". The tooled
leather blade
sheath is carved with a "Striking Eagle".

Baby Bola in Ironwood Burl

This Baby Bola makes a great skinner
or utility hunter. The blade is forged from 3/16" thick 1095HC
stock and has a hand-rubbed finish and file worked spine. The knife is 9
3/4" overall with a
4 1/2" cutting edge. The tapered tang
handle has A-grade Desert
Ironwood Burl scales
with black liners and stainless steel handle
bolts/lanyard liner. The knife comes
with a border tooled leather pouch sheath.
